Dr Ho Choon Kiat practices at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital as a general surgeon. Dr. Ho specializes in treating cancers of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct, as well as benign hepatobiliary disorders such as gallstones, stones of the bile duct, pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic tumors, and neuroendocrine cancer.

Dr Ho Choon Kiat’s other clinical interests include digestive tract surgery, cancer surgery, laparoscopic hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, hernia surgery, endoscopy, as a surgeon with 20 EXPERIENCE YEARS YEARS in the sector (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).

Dr Ho Choon Kiat graduated in 1994 from the Faculty of Medicine at Singapore National University. He graduated in general surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital under Professor Low Cheng Hock, after his National Service. In 1999, he was admitted to the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow as a Fellow.

In 2003, he underwent subExpert In training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the Surgical Clinic of the University of Heidelberg, Germany, through the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award. Dr Ho was trained in pancreatic cancer treatment as well as cancer surgery in general, under the mentorship of Professor Marcus Büchler and Helmut Friess, two of the most widely published pancreatic surgeons.

Dr Ho was awarded the TTSH Scholarship in 2004 and underwent formal training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital under the mentorship of Drs Les Nathanson and Nick O’Rourke in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He started the advanced laparoscopic service following his return, which offers laparoscopic liver, pancreas and bile duct surgery.

Dr Ho Choon Kiat was a consultant at the Department of Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, prior to establishing his private practice. He also acted as the Head of the Centre for Endoscopy. Dr. Ho served in the College of Surgeons, Ex-Co of the General Surgeons Chapter, from 2011 to 2017. He is a founding member of the Association of Hepatobiliary Pancreatics of Singapore.

Many articles and book chapters have been written by Dr Ho. His main publications include laparoscopic surgery and hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease management. A book chapter entitled “Pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple operation), Distal Pancreatectomy, Segmental Pancreatectomy, Total Pancreatectomy and Vater’s Papilla Transduodenal Resection” was also invited by Dr. Ho. This was published in “Surgery of the Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas 4th Edition” by Dr Leslie Blumgart.

Another passion for Dr. Ho is surgical Qualification. He is an assistant adjunct professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He is also an examiner for the MBBS Final examination at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in addition to teaching.
