Dr Hia Ping Ping Cindy is a pediatrician with an interest in pediatric cardiology and fetal cardiology as a subExpert In. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with her basic medical Qualification (MBBS) and went on to complete a postgraduate Qualification in Paediatric Medicine and is now a licensed pediatrician.
Dr Hia Ping Ping Cindy gained considerable EXPERIENCE YEARS in neonatal and paediatric intensive care during her training. She was also sponsored for rotations to the Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital in Boston (Massachusetts, USA) in 2002 and 2012 by the National University Hospital. In 2006, at the Royal Brompton Hospital (London, United Kingdom), she won the Health Manpower Development Program Award for a fellowship in paediatric cardiology, where she further developed her expertise in paediatric cardiology, paediatric diagnosis and interventional cardiac catheterization and foetal cardiology. There, she also gained some expertise in imaging congenital and systemic heart disease using cardiac magnetic resonance.
Dr Hia Ping Ping Cindy worked for the Department of Paediatrics at the National University Hospital for nearly 15 years, where she was hired as a Senior Consultant in 2013. At the National University Hospital, she was also actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Formerly the Associate Program Director of the NUHS Paediatric Medicine Residency Programme, she has written research papers in medical journals and delivered papers at international conferences.
Both general pediatrics and pediatric cardiology are practiced by Dr Hia. She also looks after neonates, infants and teens with congenital heart disease, in addition to stable newborns. She performs echocardiography (transthoracic and transoesphageal) and diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisations as part of her paediatric cardiology practice (device closure of atrial septal defects and patent arterial ducts and balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty). Dr Cindy Hia also conducts fetal echocardiography as part of her fetal cardiology practice and offers prenatal consultations for fetal cardiac abnormalities.
