Professional Statement
Dr Harun-ur-Rashid Bhuiyan In 1982, he graduated from Chittagong Medical College and Hospital with an MBBS Qualification. Dip. Card from Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College, and University of London completed.
He completed a one-year residency in clinical and interventional cardiology at NICVD, Dhaka, under the tuPhoneage of Professor Emeritus Dr. Sufia Rahman (dubbed the “mother of interventional cardiology in Bangladesh). Dr Harun-ur-Rashid Bhuiyan completed a six-month residency in clinical and interventional cardiology at Hammersmith Hospital in London after his Dip Card.
He began his career at the NHFH as a Registrar in Cardiology, where he worked under the direction of Professor Emeritus Dr Sufia Rahman. Since that moment, interventional cardiology has developed in Bangladesh. Dr. Harun was Professor Emeritus Dr Sufia Rahman’s primary assistant in all cath and lab operations.
Dr Harun-ur-Rashid Bhuiyan an interventional cardiology fellowship at Apollo Hospitals in Chenni, India. He was the cathiab registrar at Apollo and had the opportunity to collaborate with a number of renowned Indian innovators, including Dr. Methew Samuel Klarical. Dr. Methew is widely regarded as India’s “Father of Interventional Cardiology.”
He completed his interventional cardiology training at Charles Nicole Hospital in France under the supervision of professor Dr. Alain Cribier, one of Europe’s pioneering interventionalists. Prof Cribier is a pioneer in the development of ground-breaking therapies for valvular heart disease. He was the world’s first surgeon to conduct transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Dr Harun-ur-Rashid Bhuiyan had the opportunity to cooperate with three internationally renowned investigators from Bangladesh, India, and France. He was the second physician in Bangladesh to use a drug-eluted stent. He worked as a senior consultant at Sikder Medical College Hospital’s Gulshan branch in Dhaka for around 18 years.
Apart from his extensive expertise in clinical and interventional cardiology, he has several papers in Bangladeshi and American medical journals.
He is a member of a number of professional associations on a national and international level.
