Dr Gowreeson Thevendran is a surgeon at the Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals. The specialist is particularly specialized in foot and ankle surgery, trauma, fracture and sports-related injuries. He performs procedures such as minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery.
He treats all foot and ankle problems, and knee ligament and cartilage injuries. He is specialized in hip, knee and ankle joint replacement surgery, and uses minimally-invasive techniques.
He attended the University of Bristol on a scholarship from the UK government. He underwent training in basic orthopaedic surgery and then obtained training in specialist orthopaedic surgery in the North West Thames. He subsequently completed sub-Expert In fellowship training, spending 1 year at the University of British Columbia in foot and ankle surgery, 6 months at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in sports medicine and 6 months at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in amputation surgery.
Dr Gowreeson Thevendran spent time as the Director of Foot & Ankle Surgery in the Orthopaedics Department at Tan Tock Seng Hospital . (TTSH). Throughout his career at Lee Kong Chian, he held various positions such as an associate programme director of the NHG Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Programme and an orthopaedic lead and assistant professor. He continues to work as a visiting consultant at TTSH.
Dr Gowreeson is committed to training and improving surgeons through a robust foot and ankle surgery program. For 2014/15, he is the chairman of both the Singapore Foot & Ankle Arthroscopy Course and the Singapore Foot & Ankle Expert Panel Symposium. He and the other members formed the Singapore Foot/Ankle Society.
Qualification is a passion of Dr Gowreeson Thevendran. He continues to teach as a foreign faculty member at the Royal College of Surgeons in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons with EXPERIENCE YEARS in orthopaedics, the basic science course, and the AO Base. He is an external professor at Nanyang Technological University’s School of Biological Sciences and an examiner for National University of Singapore’s Master of Medicine (orthopaedics) exit exams.
Dr Gowreeson Thevendran specializes in cartilage regeneration and the production of bioresorbable implants. Dr. Smith is a pioneer in the use of Magnezix bioreabsorbable screws in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. In another trial, he is testing these implants. He is a prolific researcher and prolific author, having published over 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and been invited to talk over 50 regional and international orthopaedic meetings.
