Biodata

• Dr Christopher Leo Cheang Han earned his medical Qualification in 2002 from Auckland University’s School of Medicine. He spent several years working in New Zealand before relocating to Singapore in 2005. He was given the Healthcare Manpower Development Plan Fellowship in endovascular intervention for vascular dialysis access in Sydney, Australia, after finishing Internal Medicine and Nephrology Specialist training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Academia of Medicine Singapore, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
• Dr Christopher Leo Cheang Han previously worked at the National University Hospital as a Consultant and Director of the Nephrology Senior Residency Program and Interventional Nephrology Services. His clinical expertise includes the care of patients undergoing haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, as well as those suffering from glomerulonephritis and other acute or chronic kidney illnesses. Additionally, he is proficient in executing percutaneous renal biopsies and different dialysis access techniques, such as tunneled dialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis catheters, and endovascular interventions for arteriovenous fistula/graft.
• Dr Christopher Leo Cheang Han has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in international publications on dialysis access, general nephrology, and dialysis-related topics. He serves as a guest speaker and facilitates workshops at regional and international conferences to share his skills. He was a 2020 recipient of the National University Health System (NUHS) Heroes Educator Award for his contributions to post-graduate training in Nephrology. As a member of the Academia of Medicine’s Renal Chapter Board of Directors and the Society of Dialysis Access Specialists’ Executive Committee, he is committed to improving the delivery of treatment to patients with renal disorders in the community at large. His dedication to patient outcomes earned his team a Merit Award for a quality improvement project that drastically reduced hospital-acquired Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus catheter-related blood stream infections.
