She specializes in colorectal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, stomach, oesophageal, anal and neuroendocrine gastrointestinal cancers.
Dr Choo Su Pin has specialized in performing gastrointestinal oncology clinical trials and working with complex gastrointestinal cancers and innovative therapeutics.
She is a visiting consultant at the Singapore National Cancer Centre (NCCS) and is an adjunct associate professor at the Graduate Medical School of Duke-NUS.
Dr Choo Su Pin was a senior consultant, chief of the department of gastrointestinal oncology, and deputy head of the division of medical oncology at NCCS. She was also the managing director of the treatment unit for experimental cancer and the chair of the steering committee for clinical trials.
She was an adjunct associate professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and co-director of the NCCS Comprehensive Liver Cancer Clinic prior to starting private practice.
She is the new president of the Oncology Society of Singapore and a founding member of the Immunotherapy Alliance for SSO-Cancer.
She is also a member of the council of the Medical Oncology Chapter of the Singapore Academy of Medicine and a member of the board of the Asian Oncology Society.
She is active in the creation of recommendations for the treatment of pancreatic-hepatobiliary cancer in Singapore and abroad, and was a member of the Consensus Panel of the Pan-Asia Adapted European Society of Medical Oncology Guidelines on Hepatocellular Carcinoma Committee and the Asia-Pacific Expert Meeting on Liver Cancer.
In 2018, Dr Choo was the local chair of ESMO Asia and was co-chair of ESMO Preceptorships for Gastrointestinal Cancer in 2017 and 2018.
She sits on the advisory boards of pharmaceutical companies and offers guidance on gastrointestinal cancer drug growth.
Dr Choo Su Pin has published in a variety of journals, including the Lancet, Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Cancer Discovery, Oncology Annals, and Clinical Oncology Journal.
