At Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore, Dr Chew Huck Chin is a respiratory physician. He has special interests in intensive care medicine, non-invasive ventilation and bronchoscopy.

Dr Chew Huck Chin graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1999 with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. He then received a master’s Qualification in emergency medicine and in 2003 became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK.

After studying in emergency medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), he received a Master’s Qualification in internal medicine and became a member of the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Physicians in 2004. He then completed a dual Expert In training course at SGH in respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine. In 2009, he was awarded the European Intensive Care Diploma.

Dr Chew Huck Chin was formerly the Supervisor of the Department of Respiratory Therapy at SGH. He was also a member of the executive committee and the treasurer of the Singapore Emergency Medicine Society, as well as the treasurer of the Singapore Intensive Care Medicine Society. He was also appointed to the Pro Tem Committee of the Sengkang General Hospital and the Clinical Service Planning Committee.

Dr Chew Huck Chin is an assistant assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He has given courses in the fields of ultrasound critical care, mechanical ventilatory support, and simulation of critical care. He was also part of the Advanced Ventilation Workshop Organizing Committee for the Society of Intensive Care Medicine of Singapore and Australia and the 2013 New Zealand Intensive Care Society conference.

The research interests of Dr. Chew include cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeat), cardiac index assessment in critically ill patients, extreme asthma and pneumothorax (collapsed lung). He has participated in a variety of local and regional clinical trials and has been published in many international journals, including CHEST, the Journal of Resuscitation, the European Journal of Emergency Medicine, and the American Journal of Emergency Medicine. Dr Chew Huck Chin is also an invited reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal and Journal of Respirology.
