Dr. Charles Chan is widely known in the region and is considered a foremost expert in the fields of coronary interventions, and peripheral interventions including carotid stenting, and aortic and mitral balloon valvuloplasty.

He is widely regarded as one of the leading authorities in the field of coronary interventions and is a faculty member of Trans Catheter Therapeutics (USA), TCT Asia Pacific (South Korea), and PCR Asia (Singapore). Prior to private practice, Dr. Chan was a lecturer in medicine at the University of Aberdeen (1984-1986) and was appointed as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (2001). He was formerly a Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Director of the Interventional Cardiology at the National Heart Center Singapore.  After graduating from the National University of Ireland with an Honors Degree (1982), he received the Leonard Abramson Gold Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons Medical School in the Final MB and the Desmond Lyons Gold Medal in Medicine from St Laurence Hospital (1982) . He obtained his MRCP (UK) in 1985 and embarked on cardiology training at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (Scotland), Green Lane Hospital (New Zealand), and Charles Nicolle University Hospital, Rouen (France). He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 1996 and the American College of Cardiology in 1999.
