Dr Chan Wing Kwong is an eye-doctor practising in Singapore.
Dr Chan Wing Kwong is a specialist in laser surgery for correction of myopia, astigmatism, LASIK, epi-LASIK, and surface ablation with excimer and femtosecond laser technology.
Dr Chan Wing Kwong is specialized in the surgical correction of severe myopia, and offers tertiary consultation on refractive surgery, and treatment of corneal disease.
Dr Chan Wing Kwong was the Head of Refractive Surgery Service at the Singapore National Eye Centre until 2008, and is a clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore.
Dr Chan was awarded a grant to undergo a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Hospital in 1994/95.
He has written 26 research papers and 6 book chapters on cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and contact lens technology, and has co-authored 15 local and international clinical trials of refractive and surgical procedures.
Dr Chan is recognised nationally and internally as a specialist in LASIK surgery, and has qualified surgeons from around the world in the technique. He also participates in seminars and classes at meetings such as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Asia Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
He received the Minister of Health’s Special Award for Excellence in Public Health in 2006. He has received various awards including the Muthusamy Medal of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Gold Medal for the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) Qualification of the National University of Singapore, the Distinguished Service Award of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Certified Instructor Award of the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
He was a past chairman of the Contact Lens Practitioners Board and a past chairman of the National Council on Ophthalmology, and is currently a member of the Complaints Committee of the Singapore Medical Council. He has been a visiting professor at the Xiamen Eye Centre in China.
He is a member of several professional societies, including the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology, the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
