- Dr Chan is an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT). In 1970, he earned his MBBS from the National University of Singapore. In 1974, he earned his FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. In 1980, he was elected a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine.
- Dr Chan worked at the Singapore General Hospital’s ENT Department from 1972 to 1981, when he was appointed to Consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgeon in 1979. In May 1981, he established his own private practice at Gleneagles Medical Centre.
