Biodata

Doctor Audrey Looi’s professional journey in Oculoplastics began with her training at the Singapore National Eye Centre. Following this, she pursued fellowships in Oculoplastic, Orbital, and Ocular Pathology at the University of British Columbia. These fellowships were conducted under the guidance of esteeme professors: Prof Peter Dolman, Prof Jack Rootman, and Prof Valerie White. Notably, her return to Singapore in 2004 was accompanied by the honor of receiving the Best Fellowship Research prize.

Throughout her career, Dr Audrey Looi assumed significant roles in the field of Oculoplastics. From 2007 to 2016, she served as the Head of the Oculoplastic Service &, concurrently, as the Clinical Director of the General Eye Clinic at the Singapore National Eye Centre from 2009 to 2019. Furthermore, her academic contributions were recognized when she was appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, a position she held from 2012 to 2019.

Nowadays, Dr Audrey Looi holds the esteemed position of Medical Director at Ava Eye Clinic. In addition to her clinical and academic pursuits, she has actively participated in the examination processes of both the Royal College of Ophthalmology (Edinburgh) & the National University of Singapore.

Her commitment to advancing Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is evident in her extensive involvement in professional societies. She served as the Treasurer of the Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery from 2006 to 2010 and later assumed the role of Vice-President from 2012 to 2014.

Doctor Looi also took on the responsibilities of Editor for the society’s newsletter, iPlastic, from 2013 to 2018 & was re-elected as First Vice-President in December 2018. Furthermore, she holds the esteemed position of First Vice-President of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Beyond her clinical and professional engagements, Dr. Looi has demonstrated her commitment to the community. She played a foundational role as a Board Director in iC2 PrepHouse, and a charitable organization established in Singapore in 2011. This organization is dedicated to providing programs that foster greater independence among children with low vision while supporting their continued Qualification in mainstream schools.
