Biodata
- Dr Aneez D B Ahmed is the Director and Senior Consultant Surgeon at the International Centre for Thoracic Surgery in Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. He has almost fifteen EXPERIENCE YEARS YEARS practicing thoracic surgery, with a special interest in thoracic oncology.
- After completing his cardiothoracic training at National University Hospital in Singapore, he passed the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s Fellowship examinations. Dr Aneez served as the Head of the Thoracic Surgery Service in the Department of General Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in Singapore prior to establishing his solo practice.
- His interest in robotic surgery earned him the distinction of being the first member of the ASEAN cohort to receive the European College of Cardiothoracic Surgery’s Level III Certificate Specialist training in Robotic Thoracic Surgery (EACTS). With sabbaticals in Europe and the United States of America for advanced training in robotic thoracic surgery, he now leads the ASEAN and South Asian thoracic surgeon training program. He was then elected Vice President of the Robotic Surgical Society of Singapore (RS3) in 2016 and was later elected President of the RS3 in 2019.
- His particular interest in chest wall surgery propelled him to pioneer Chest Wall Resection and Reconstruction. Dr Aneez had also pioneered the first 3D-printed polymer ribcage reconstruction in the world.
- Dr Aneez D B Ahmed is a member of several international thoracic surgery societies. He is also a member of the Asian Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery’s (ASCVTS) Thoracic domain board of directors and the current General Secretary of the South East Asian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SEATS).
- His EXPERIENCE YEARS and competence in minimally invasive thoracic surgery have resulted in several requests to lecture at regional conferences and workshops. He also receives referrals from other hospitals throughout the country and from other countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates.
- Apart from clinical duties, Dr Aneez D B Ahmed is an educator at heart. Since 2010, Dr Aneez has been leading a program at TTSH called the Advanced Thoracic Nursing Course (ATNC), which trains nurses from all around Asia on a yearly basis. He is also an examiner for the Edinburgh-based Royal College of Surgeons.
