Doctor Akash Verma is a lung specialist specializing in Intensive Care Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology, & lung cancer. Prior to joining Thomson Medical Center, Dr. Akash was a Respiratory Medicine senior consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and an adjunct assistant professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Following graduation, he completed his residency at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore before becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). Upon conclusion of advanced training in Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care, He was conferred a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS).
Subsequently, he received a Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) fellowship and served as a visiting fellow in the departments of Interventional Pulmonology at Samsung Medical Centre-Seoul, Mayo Clinic-USA, and University of Chicago.
In 2018, he pioneered the establishment of the “navigation bronchoscopy” service in Singapore to improve the quality of lung cancer patients’ journeys within the healthcare system.
Dr Akash Verma is trained in advanced bronchoscopy techniques for laser resection of lung tumors, silicone stent placement in the airways, pleuroscopy, EBUS-TBNA, and navigation bronchoscopy, in addition to treating common respiratory conditions such as asthma & COPD.
He has published over 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles. He maintains an active interest in publishing and teaching and has lectured at several international conferences and courses in Southeast Asia (Seoul 2013, Singapore 2015, Japan 2016, Indonesia 2017-2019, and Malaysia 2019) and Europe (Italy 2016) as an invited speaker.
