Dennis Seow Chuen Chai

Assoc Professor Dennis Seo Chuen Chai completed his appointment as Head of Geriatric Medicine on 31 December 2022 after leading the department for over 9 years.

Under Professor Dennis’s leadership, the department continued to develop and expand its range of clinical services, including restructuring the ortho-geriatric medicine service into a day service for hip fracture patients, and establishing a geriatric medicine and dementia care ward. Ward 63, as well as the Early Access Geriatric Medicine Clinic for SGH Emergency Medicine patients. He was instrumental in laying the foundations for more collaborative services with Emergency Medicine and General Surgery.

Professor Dennis was instrumental in establishing the SGH Memory Center, integrating clinical services in psychiatry, neurology, psychology, and geriatric medicine. He is currently the Head of Service at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Memory and Cognitive Disorders Center at SGH. In addition, Professor Dennis is actively involved in several QI projects with Gerry senior residents to improve clinical care for patients, such as dental health screening for Ward 63 patients, and improving influenza vaccination rates among hip fracture patients.

He also serves as the SGH representative on the Advance Care Planning (ACP) Steering Committee, Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) since 2014 and is actively involved in the implementation of ACP at SGH.
