Profile
- Clin Assoc Prof Hairil Abdullah received his undergraduate medical training in University of Malaya, Malaysia, before migrating to Singapore in 2008. He was awarded the Master of Medicine by National University of Singapore in 2010. In 2012, he underwent a fellowship in the subExpert In of Perioperative Medicine at University of Toronto, Canada and further received MSc (Periop Med) from University College London in 2021. As a perioperative surgeon, he is passionate on improving surgical patient outcomes. He led the team which revamped the preoperative process in SGH, resulting in the development of Preoperative Assessment Centre, which is a one-stop multidisciplinary centre to assess, advise and optimise patients prior to elective surgeries. He is also the Institutional Value Lead, SGH with the duty to promote Value Driven Care programs in SGH, as well as the Chair for the hospital’s ERAS Committee.
- Clin Assoc Prof Hairil Abdullah led several studies exploring new methods in perioperative risk management and reduction strategies. He is the PI for a broad registry comprising nearly 200,000 surgical patients in SGH, which has provided information on how the perioperative outcomes can be improved. This register is the cornerstone of his latest PhD thesis, which is based on the use of Data Science in healthcare.
