  • Dr Daniel Tan Yat Harn is the medical director of Asian American Radiation & Oncology and a prominent radiation oncologist (AARO). He specializes in the treatment of difficult tumors with Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS/SBRT) and Advanced Radiation Technologies. His therapeutic interests include the treatment of tumors of the central nervous system (Brain and Spine), as well as prostate and breast cancer. Dr Daniel Tan Yat Harn previously worked as a consultant radiation oncologist at the National Cancer Centre Singapore’s Division of Radiation Oncology, where he spearheaded the creation of Singapore’s first SRS and SBRT programs for multiple organ locations.
  • Dr Daniel Tan Yat Harn completed specialist training in Clinical Oncology at the National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS) after graduating from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2002. In 2008, the Ministry of Health (MOH) awarded him a Health Manpower Development (HMDP) award for his training in Clinical Oncology. He was awarded a further HMDP Award for training in brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and body irradiation (SRS/SBRT) in 2012, and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in the United Kingdom (FRCR) in Clinical Oncology in 2011. Dr Tan was elected a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine (Radiation Oncology) in 2012.

  • Dr Tan’s research interests included the evaluation of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in the treatment of benign and malignant brain, spine, and body tumors. He established the Novalis Brain Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) in collaboration with his mentors and, upon his return from abroad, the Novalis Spine Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program. This was the region’s first such service.
  • Dr Tan served as the national project coordinator for the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) healthcare project 6065, which focused on training and developing SBRT, an advanced radiation therapy, throughout Asia-Pacific countries. He directed the first regional SBRT training session in 2012 and was invited to the IAEA in 2014 as an expert consultant to assist with the development of phase 2 of the project.
  • Dr Tan has presented his findings at major international conferences and authored and published articles in peer-reviewed publications on the themes of neuro-oncology, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). He is frequently invited to speak at regional meetings on these themes.
  • Dr Tan previously served as co-chair of the Neuro-Oncology Cancer Service Line Development workgroup at NCCS and as a clinical lecturer at NUS’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Dr Tan was also a member of the Singapore Radiological Society’s executive committee and the College of Radiology Singapore’s council. He served as the chairman of the organization’s 24th Annual Scientific Meeting and the RadiologyAsia 2015 event.
  • He launched AARO in 2015 with the objective of providing sub-specialized radiation oncology treatments in the private sector, in line with the practice of major international cancer institutions, where doctors focus exclusively on specific cancers and procedures in order to achieve therapeutic excellence. He possesses an MBA in Healthcare Management from NUS Business School and has also been instrumental in the development of various private cancer centers both locally and internationally.
