Dr Liau Kui Hin is an accredited surgeon with over 18 years of clinical EXPERIENCE YEARS in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive cancers (in particular liver cancer, cancer of the gall bladder, cancer of the bile duct, cancer of the pancreas and cancer of the carcinoid or neuroendocrine), gastrointestinal and surgical infections. Surgical inflammation, soft tissue sarcoma and neuro-endocrine oncology are his other sub-Expert In issues. Dr Liau Kui Hin graduated in 1994 from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore National University, and received his postgraduate Qualification in surgery in 1998. He was accepted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, the same year. Dr Liau then continued his further cancer treatment training from 2002 to 2003 at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York, USA. He was given Fellowships from the Academy of Medicine, the Singapore College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons when he returned to Singapore in 2003.
Dr Liau Kui Hin was the senior consulting surgeon in the Department of General Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, prior to forming his private practice. He served from 2004 to 2010 as the Head of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Unit in the Department of General Surgery during his tenure. From 2008 to 2010, he was also the Deputy Head of the General Surgery Department, Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
From 2005 to 2011, Dr. Liau was the president of the Asian-Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (APHPBA) and a member of the association’s board. Dr. Liau was also the 2013-2014 Vice President of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (Singapore) and the 2010-2014 Board Member of the College of Surgeons, Singapore.
Dr Liau Kui Hin is a member of the Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA) and the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association of the Society for Alimentary Tract Surgery (SSAT) (IHPBA). With a particular interest in the treatment of patients with neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoids), he serves on the Carcinoid & Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (CNETs) Executive Committee and is also a member of the European Neuroendocrine Society. Dr. Liau belongs to the International Surgical Infections Research Group, which reviews the recommendations for surgical infection control in practice.
