Dr Tang Poh Huat Anthony is a surgeon with breast cancer.
Dr Tang Poh Huat Anthony has clinical interests in breast conservation surgery, oncoplastic breast reconstruction and biopsy of the sentinel node (for minimal lymph node removal).
Dr Tang Poh Huat Anthony was awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship for Medicine for his undergraduate medical Qualification in Melbourne, Australia, as an ASEAN scholar in his pre-university days. He managed to complete his postgraduate surgical training and a joint specialist fellowship was awarded to the boards of Singapore and the United Kingdom (Edinburgh). He has received two postgraduate master’s Qualifications in medicine (surgery) and public health, apart from his surgical studies (clinical epidemiology).
He has a strong research interest, particularly in the field of innovation in medical devices.
The inaugural Singapore-Stanford Biodesign Fellowship was awarded to Dr Tang in 2011. He was also the Singapore Stanford Biodesign Fellowship Head and I2R Clinical Consultant, A*STAR, and has trained more than 400 aspiring entrepreneurs in medical devices. He served on grants totaling over $4 million as the Clinical Principal Investigator. Dr Tang was also given an assistant professorship at the National University of Singapore as a result of his research work.
Dr Tang Poh Huat Anthony is a regular speaker at many local and international conferences as a published scientific author. Since he is an ardent advocate for breast cancer screening, he also organizes and talks at public symposiums in Singapore.
Personally, to help the underprivileged, Dr Tang loves using his technical skills. He is passionaPhoney active in surgical outreach projects to the underprivileged areas of Asia, and was the co-founder of the National University Health Systems’ surgical volunteer and charity group.
