Biodata
Dr. Chong Chern Hao is a specialist in Gastroenterology, with subspecialty interests in fatty liver, viral hepatitis B, hepatitis C, liver cancer, and other liver-related disorders. He practiced clinical hepatology and general gastroenterology in National University Hospital (NUH), Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), and Woodlands Health Campus (WHC) prior to joining gut care. Dr. Chong graduated from the University of Malaya in 2009 as a dean list top student. He began his basic medical training in Singapore as a house officer and subsequently pursued his specialist training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology under the National University Health System (NUHS) Residency Program Singapore. He attained the Master of Medicine (MMed) and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the United Kingdom in 2013. In 2016, he was accredited as a specialist in Gastroenterology by the Ministry of Health and admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
Upon completion of his training, he was employed by Woodlands Health Campus as the first few medical specialist to assist in hospital operation planning. He led the WHC medical team to pilot the first medical ward in 2017. Dr. Chong received Service Excellence Award in 2019 as a recognition of his contribution to the hospital.
Dr. Chong believes in providing end-to-end seamless care for all patients, emphasizing in disease prevention, early detection, and early treatment to prevent disease progression by uplifting public knowledge via healthcare education. He is an active member of the National Foundation of Digestive Disease (NFDD) providing public health talks on liver disease awareness and a regular speaker in various general practitioner seminars. His patients like him very much due to his holistic approach. He can speak various languages and dialects such as English, Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese, and Hakka.
