EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Fernandes Mark Lee is a gastroenterologist who practices at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital.
He is an expert in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and constipation and is the co-author of the Asian Consensus on Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Dr Gwee’s EXPERIENCE YEARS includes dyspepsia, indigestion, gas-related conditions, bowel habit preparation, dietary control of food intolerance, refractory gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Helicobacter pylori infection, and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. - His hepatology priorities include fatty liver disease and hepatitis E treatment.
Dr Fernandes Mark Lee serves on the Rome committee that develops international recommendations for the study and management of functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and was a 2014 Rome Foundation Research Award winner.
He is the scientific chairman of the Southeast Asian Association for Gastrointestinal Motility (SEAGMA). He served as president of the IBS Support Group and the Asian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANMA), an expert panel dedicated to the research and practice of neurogastroenterology and motility.
Dr Gwee is an adjunct associate professor of medicine at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
He has published internationally on the function of probiotics in clinical management, post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome, the functions of melatonin, sleep disruption, and gluten sensitivity in irritable bowel syndrome, endoscopic evaluation of GERD, and the impact of Helicobacter pylori treatment on dyspepsia.
