Dr Yue Wai Mun is an orthopaedic surgeon based at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital. His clinical interests include the treatment of complex spinal problems, ranging from cervical to lumbar spine, especially with minimally invasive spine surgery and computerized spine navigation.

In 1992, Dr Yue graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Singapore, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. He then completed his Singapore orthopaedic surgery training and was awarded the N Balachandran Memorial Award in 2001 for Outstanding Orthopaedic Trainee.

Dr Yue Wai Mun subsequently received from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award to complete his clinical spine fellowship with the University of Missouri-Columbia and Columbia Orthopaedic Group in 2003. In 2004, he became a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery).

Dr Yue Wai Mun was previously a senior consultant in the spine department of the Singapore General Hospital’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery (SGH). He was also the director of the spine fellowship program and, among his many appointments at SGH, the director of quality assurance and clinical governance. He continues with SGH as a visiting consultant.

Dr Yue is an adjunct associate professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS, in addition to his clinical practice. He is on the Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic) committee and is an investigator for the orthopaedic surgery Joint Specialization Fellowship Examination, the orthopaedic surgery and family medicine Master of Medicine exam, and the NUS MBBS exam.

Dr Yue is a member of the Spine Society of North America, the Spine Society of Asia Pacific, the Cervical Spine Research Society and the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Society. He is a life member of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association and is a founding member of the Cervical Spine Research Society’s Asia Pacific section. He has held various leadership positions, both locally and globally, in professional societies and worked on their scientific committees.

Dr Yue Wai Mun is also a reviewer for many major scientific publications, including Spine, a leading publication on spinal disorders research and treatment. He has published numerous articles on minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical spine surgery, surgery to repair the cervical disc and spinal deformities. At various local and international scientific events, he has also made several presentations, receiving the best paper award at the Society for Minimally Spine Surgery meeting in the United States in 2010.

In the United States, Europe, China, Japan, Korea, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei, Dr Yue has also been invited to give seminars, hold workshops on advanced spinal procedures and perform demonstration surgeries.
