EXPERIENCE YEARS

  • Dr Tan Jee Lim is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital.
    His clinical interests include surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), arthroscopy, cartilage and ligament restoration, hip scope, and meniscus repair.
    Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1989 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He was then elected a fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in the United Kingdom. Dr Tan completed his sports orthopaedics fellowship at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in Canada in 1999 and was accepted as a fellow of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in 2000.
  • Dr Tan Jee Lim was previously the founder and director of the Changi Sports Medicine Centre at Singapore’s Changi General Hospital (CGH). He also established the Changi Skills Training Laboratory and served as the course chairman for Southeast Asia’s first cartilage transplant course. He also lectured clinically at NUS’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He continues to work for CGH and the Singapore Sports Council as a visiting consultant.
    Dr Tan was named director of the Singapore Soft Tissue Engineering project in 2002 by the Singapore Ministry of Health to investigate the clinical application of cartilage and meniscal transplantation. As director, he performed Southeast Asia’s first successful meniscus transplant using cadaveric tissue graft.
    Dr Tan Jee Lim is a member of the Sports Medicine Accreditation Committee and the Joint Commission Specialist Training Committee, and also served on the Expert In Board of the Academy of Medicine’s Chapter of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
    Dr Tan is also an active member of the local sports community. He previously served as president of the Singapore Sports Medicine Association and as team physician for the Singapore national soccer team. He has also served on the medical committees of the Singapore Football Association and Outward Bound Singapore.
