Professional Statement
Dr Vikas Khetan graduated from J.S.S. Medical College in Mysore in 1999. He earned a Diploma in Ophthalmology from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, followed by a DNB and Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Diseases from Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai.
From April 2005 to March 2006, he completed a Retinoblastoma Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. He is currently an Associate Consultant in the Vitreo-Retina and Ocular Oncology department at Sankara Nethralaya. He has presented his findings at a number of national and international conferences, and he has many publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has also contributed to textbook chapters and is a contributory author of the Sankara Nethralaya’s atlas on Fundus Fluorescein Angiography.
Dr Vikas Khetan is also a co-investigator in the Indo-Australian project ‘Developing Molecularly Targeted Polymer Nanoparticles for Cancer Therapeutics and Diagnostics.’ He is currently the principal investigator from Sankara Nethralaya in two retinoblastoma trials, one of which is in partnership with the children’s oncology division. The Sankara Nethralaya Medical Research Foundation called him the best outgoing vitreo-retina fellow for the academic year 2003-2004.
Ocular Oncology, Retinopathy of Prematurity, and Macular Diseases are among his research interests.
