Biography

Dr. Shirley Bang Shih Ling is a urologist with expertise in a comprehensive range of urological issues ranging from simple procedures for urinary stones to complex reconstructive surgery of the urinary tract. In addition to this, she is also skilled in oncology and general urology procedures such as laparoscopic surgery for gallstones, minimally invasive surgery for urological cancers, and treatment of benign prostate diseases. Prior to the private clinic, Dr. Pang was a consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) where she built her expertise and experience in Urology. She was instrumental in introducing percutaneous stimulation of the tibial nerve (PTNS), a treatment for overactive bladder, to the hospital. During her tenure at TTSH, she treated both simple and complex urological cases daily as well as administered urodynamic and video urodynamic sessions. Dr. Pang obtained her MBBS and MBBS from the University of Auckland in 2004. Subsequently, she obtained her membership in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) in 2009 and her Master of Medicine in Surgery (MRCS).Med in 2010. She received her specialty accreditation As a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS- Urology) in 2014. Dr. Pang has done her subspecialty fellowship in three hospitals namely Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Women’s Hospital, and Russels Hole Hospital in the UK. During the fellowship year, she performed complex urinary incontinence and reconstructive surgeries for both male and female patients under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Bilal, Dr. Allah Zaki, Dr. Pallavi Latti, and Dr. Paul Anderson. During the fellowship period, Dr. Pang also ran the Urodynamic and Video Dynamics Clinic twice a week. Dr. Pang is a member of the Executive Committee of the Singapore Continuity Association. Aside from clinical work, she also mentors the Prostate Cancer Survival Support Group at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She has also authored research papers published in several prestigious urology journals such as Urology (Golden Journal) and Research and Reports in Urology. Dr. Pang’s interests are in functional and reconstructive surgery of the urinary system, overactive bladder syndrome, neurogenic bladder, and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS).
