Biography
Dr. Shanker Pasupathy is a general surgeon with a special interest in keyhole surgery for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, gallbladder, and abdominal hernias. Previously, he was Director of LIFE Center and Senior Consultant and Head of the Metabolic Bariatric Surgery Service in the Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery Department of Saudi German Hospital.
Dr. Shanker is a member of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (ASMBS) and was the past president of the Society of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery of Singapore (OMSSS). He is also the former Head of Laparoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (Singapore Chapter). Dr. Shanker did his basic surgical training in Singapore, after which he underwent higher training in Gastrointestinal and Vascular Surgery in UK, France, and Germany. Completed a one-year fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery at IRCAD (Institut de Recherche Contre les Cancers de l’Appareil Digestif) and University of Louis-Pasteur Strasbourg 1.
