Biography
Dr. Shang Yeap Heng Oon is a medical oncologist at Icon SOC Farrer Park Medical Clinic and a visiting consultant at Johns Hopkins Singapore. He received his MBBS from the University of Sydney and was awarded the Faculty of Science International Merit Scholarship for his outstanding academic achievement. He was also awarded membership in the International Golden Honor Society for being among the top students in his class. Dr. Yip worked in Sydney at the Royal North Shore and Gosford Hospitals while training his physician. He then completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at Crown Mary Cancer Center, Westmead. During this time, he specializes in and cares for patients with all types of cancers. He then furthered his passion for cancer care through a fellowship in clinical research at the Sydney West Center for Clinical Trials. During that time, I developed several clinical trials for breast cancer, genitourinary cancer, new cancer drugs, and pharmacogenomics. He has since presented his research results at several international conferences and has also published these results in reputable scientific journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Yip worked as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital Singapore and Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 2011 until 2015. He was caring for patients of all types, especially breast, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, lung, and skin cancer patients. He was in charge of the Tan Tock Seng Oncology Clinic and was active in research as the principal investigator on multiple clinical trials for cancer patients. He is a faculty member of Johns Hopkins Medicine and continues to be involved in the education and training of medical students and residents at Johns Hopkins Singapore and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Dr. Yip passionately believes that caring for cancer patients involves caring for their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Kindness, compassion, and providing each of his patients with the best evidence-based treatments are at the core of his practice.
